This video goes over some of the key concepts and basics for good photography composition so that your social media and online pictures stand out.

The main points covered in this video are:

  • Use a variety of shots and types of pictures
  • Avoid blurry and grainy pictures
  • Choose proper lighting.  Use sunrise/ sunset for landscape pictures and shady environments for portrait pictures.
  • Rule of thirds
  • Remove elements that don’t belong in the picture.
  • Do not crop people at the joints
  • Leave space for objects in motion
  • Change your perspective.  Avoid eye level for all pictures.  Get low for certain pictures
  • Have depth in pictures including foreground, mid ground, background
  • Avoid wide angle lens like GoPro for portrait and people photography.
  • Less is more.  What is the essence and focal point of the picture?
